Don Johnson is an American actor, producer, director, singer, and songwriter. He is best known for his role as James “Sonny” Crockett in the 1980s television series Miami Vice, and as the lead role in the 1990s cop series Nash Bridges.
Johnson was born Donnie Wayne Johnson on December 15, 1949 in Flat Creek, Missouri to Wayne Johnson and Nell Johnson. His father, Wayne Fred Johnson, was a farmer and his mother, Nell, was a beautician. When he was six years old, the family moved to Wichita, Kansas. He was a student at the American Conservatory theater before earning his first acting role in 1969 in a stage production. He found short-lived music success with the top 5 single and top 20 album Heartbeat in 1986.
