Lanter was born in Massillon, Ohio, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1991 at age 8. Growing up, the blue-eyed actor spent most of his time playing baseball, football and golf. His love for baseball led him to scoring a position as a bat boy with the Atlanta Braves. Lanter graduated from Collins Hill High School in 2001. His parents got divorced when he was a senior in high school. Lanter began dating Angela Stacey in 2009. The couple married in 2013.
